NASA / United
Space Alliance
RoundUP Productions has worked with NASA, through the United
Space Alliance, to provide support for its Space Shuttle Program
since 2001.
The company has
successfully developed and delivered Phase I and is preparing for the
production of Phase II of its Realtime Orbiter Configuration System
(RTOCS), also known as XVision System .
This system is designed to uninvasively monitor and report the status
of NASA's four Space Shuttle Orbiters while they are being serviced
between space missions in their separate Orbiter Processing
Facilities (OPF).
The fully
realized RTOCS system consists of multiple XNodes - small, sealed Linux-based
computers running proprietary software for video capture and vision
analysis - that monitor and report the positioning of the many moving
components of the Shuttle (hatches and support platforms) and its
processing facilities. Managed by RoundUPProduction's XVision server, the overall system is
monitored by authorized users 2D/3D web-based clients, email, SMS and
voicemail notification systems.
RTOCS was commissioned to save NASA money through
increased scheduling efficiency and safety by providing managers and
operators real time feedback and position data of critical
components. The system is also a stellar accounting and planning
tool, since the system also tracks the overall progress of
key
processes over time.
